some people just need to get outta the Gene Pool...
this is an excerpt from the Ozark Mountain Basset Rescue Group's home page...
"On Friday, July 27th, Sherry, OMBR’s President, received a call about a man running a puppy mill in Oklahoma who was disposing of 30 adult bassets and assorted puppies from 9 weeks old and up. Sherry was told that if we did not pick up these bassets by Monday morning, he would shoot the ones that were left. So on Sunday afternoon, Sherry, her son Matt, and Phil, OMBR’s founder, went out to pick up these dogs. We didn’t know where we were going to put them – all our foster homes are full – but we couldn’t’ let them just be killed. So Sunday at 8 a.m., OMBR had 19 bassets in its care. By Sunday at 5 p.m., we had added 24 more – we had more than doubled our numbers!!!! The miller had given and sold breeding pairs, groups, and puppies to anyone who would take them. At this point, only 14 adults remained"

and if you're in the area, maybe you could find yourself a beautiful new basset hound to love...
or maybe ya'll would like to make a donation to help OMBR deal with this huge influx of bassets all at one time...I decided to fore go a new Southern Living at Home Door Basket and a Real Simple subscription (love that mag, but not like I don't have a flood of magazines comin' to Number 17 anyhow...) so I could send a little pocket change their way...
I'm just dying to bring home one of these little babies home to Number 17...but we're kind of Full-Up here right now...9 beautiful tiny little Red & White bassie babies! can't hardly stand it, can ya'll? LOL...I like the little fat one 4th from the right in the group photograph...well, "like" isn't really the word, is it? I absolutely love that little chub...

Well that post had me feeling sad about the dogs but then I had to hoot with laughter at your couch.

Unbelievable! I can not undertand how that man and woman fall asleep at night.

How can people be like that ? It is beyond me .....
I don't suppose one of those little puppies would like to be posted to Australia unfortunately.
Some people are just unbelievable!! Just to answer your question, the mushroom is a vintage tin musical moneybox! It plays a tinkly tune when you wind the handle on top! x
Some People in this World just Kill me!!! I am so Sorry to hear about this. I would love one but My husband would divorce me.LOL, we have three already. I must say your couch looks just like mine everyday of the week.. Jamie
Wow! What a sad story! My parents have a rescued dog and we have a rescued cat ~ adopted animals make the best pets (I think you can really sense their gratitude for being rescued)!
Love your couch site. Good luck getting a seat any time soon
oh, that is so sad. My son worked with a couple this summer who had several rescue horses.
I see, by the photo that it must be difficult to get a seat in your home!
But, I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way.
Awww, I wish we were closer. That's just really terrible, actually I can't even think of a word to describe how horrible that man is. But how lovely of those people to rescue them!

Well I tell ya puppy mills make me so very angry! Both of our Boxers have come from Rescue :O)... Texas Boxer Rescue is where Dakota came from :O)...
Bargun was a give away that if they couldn't find homes for the litter they were taking them to the kill shelter :O(...
I wish something could be done to shut down all the puppy mills:O(..
Shoot if not one litter of puppies was born to any breeder of any kind for gosh I don't know how long, there are enough dogs and cats looking for homes now that no one would be petless that wanted a pet for a very long time!!!!!!!
Okay, so I must be awful but I think those people should be shot. No, tortured. To hurt a dog in anyway...
I so wish I could come there. WE are losing my brother and sis in law's doggie today...I would so love to rescue a doggie today. *sigh*
I adore your doggies. We have a rescued fully pedigreed "Kiphound"
Ah...okay, he is a mutt but our Kip is our joy! Our 2 cats were rescued as well...one was quite wild but you should se him now!
I hope we can add another doggie to our home soon. Small as it is, our home is always open to another.
LOVE this blog! I came here via Debra and penny and am loving it. I have bookmarked it and will return often.
Thank you for the smiles...I needed them today.
Hugs,
Sue
Hi, Shelia (I see you added your name here, thanks!). Now I know who you are! What cute pups...and I'm laughing too at not being able to sit on your sofa. I love, love dogs, but have decided not to get another one now, since I lost my sweet girl almost 2 years ago. I love on the neighbors dogs now. You probably saw my doggie post a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for stopping by & sharing ice cream with me!!
Have a great weekend.
Rhoda
Those poor babies, I just don't understand that kind of treatment.
By the way, my couch is full too.
Love the story about your bowls...my gran made the best sourdough whole wheat english muffins in her kitchen aid mixer that I now own. The dogs are so sweet! Laurie
wonder if this kind of thing would stop if we rounded the puppy mill owners up and sent THEM to the pound?
prolly not, but i can dream, can't i?
Found a Blue Willow cup today, I will let you know when I have it made into a pincushion. Thanks for the idea! Laurie
