Headin' Down to Tybee...

yep, because there ain't much better than going some place hotter than the 7th level your own home in August...in Georgia...and payin' for the privilege...

tomorrow evening, the DH & I will be pickin' a Northern friend* (yes, we Georgians can be friends with a Yankee...although, does Michigan count as Yankee turf?) up from the airport...a friend who about died from heat stroke when she came down to Savannah in July that first time all those years ago...

and apparently she liked the sensation so much, she's not only comin' back again in the summer, but in a hotter month...

I think she fried her brain down here the first time 'round...
another friend will be joining us so we'll have a 4-day 3-night Girlfriends' Weekend...although technically it isn't a weekend because we don't head down to Tybee until Sunday...just to run our mouths, eat, shop...(Lord, I hope nobody is planning on loggin' any beach sunning time...)

and truthfully we're all well beyond a fair use of the word "girl" but that is what these gatherings are called, I believe...

I must really like these ladies because I truly have no idea why else a Summertime Beach Hater like myself would be going for this unless it was for the company...or a lot of money...

and unless they've been holdin' out on me, we can just go ahead and rule the money thing out...

******************************

*apparently, Michigan is where those Summer Sweaters we Georgians see advertised in catalogs go to get worn...it wasn't until NF explained the weather up there that I realized one could actually wear a chubby knit sweater during the summer and not get signed up for the loony bin by concerned family members...

******************************

movin' along, Brandee of The Berry's Patch has awarded me this:

ooooh ahhhhh...I think this is the prettiest Blog Award I've seen...and now I have one too...thanks, Brandee :) (Brandee must sense that I desperately want to be artistic :)

Hi Shelia, congratulations on the award, it is beautiful, and you do have an artful imagination. I love your stories. I wish I had somewhere to go other than to the kitchen, laundry room, front door or the bathroom. LOL! I hope you have lots of fun and take lots of pictures to share with us. We'll be waiting to here all about it and see that polka dot bikini you'll be wearing on the beach. Have a fun and safe trip. Deb

Hi Sheila,

We just came back from Savannah and I've never been so uncomfortable in my entire life!! We plan on going back when it's cooler cause it was just too darn muggy and hot to do anything after 2pm. Have fun on Tybee and congrats on the award!

Hope y'all are having a LARGE time on Tybee. I'm sitting at home with a big ole pouting lip that I couldn't crash the party, er, I mean join the fun. J.

You so deserve these awards!

Oh but Savannah in the Summer is sweet! Really! There is something about the southern heat that is differnet. Okay, so I am weird huh?

Have fun with your friends. And yes! There are parts of the North that get quite chilly in Summer. We have actually had a few cool nights here that a sweater would have been nice.

Really!

Love,
Sue

You are just so crazy, girl!
Thanks for making me laugh!

And uh, huh.... Michigan is Yankee territory (my brother-in-law) is from Michigan and his nickname is Yankee -- they call us hillbillies (among other things)BTW!!! We consider everybody north of the Mason-Dixon line yankees 'round here!
Too funny!

Many Blessings,
Julie

it's all about the journey...
