"We Lost a Lot of Them That Day"...

is what my 94-year-old granma said when I casually mentioned that today is Pearl Harbor Day...

and then she began to cry a little...

I think those of us who are removed by a generation or two tend to forget what a huge impact that had on the country - I imagine it was much like 9/11 - and think about how much that has been blunted in the minds of many...that would be interesting - to find out peoples 9/11 stories (I know that my Mom's generation has the big "What I was doing when JFK was shot" connection).

Anyhooooooooo, I digress. I thought again last night about what a blow it was to the country: the death of so many, the physical attack on our land, the huge blow to our military prowess, and to top it all off, Christmas was just around the corner. I wonder what people's memories of Christmas that year are like.

it's all about the journey...
